Mjerenje dnevnih ekstremnih temperatura

The minimum air temperatures above the ground are read on the minimum thermometer placed 5 cm above the ground at 6 UTC (7SEV). The procedure of reading the minimum thermometer at the ground level as well as all the other actions done with handling and maintaining are the same as those done with the minimum thermometer in a weather instrument shelter on 2 m above the ground.

The minimum thermometer is placed on a stand at night, after the sunset, and at 9 PM (UTC) at the latest while monitoring at 20 UTC (21 SEV) in all seasons. Thermometer is removed from the stand in the morning while monitoring at 6 UTC (7SEV).

The minimum thermometer at ground level is used to measure the lowest air temperatures during the previous night on 5 cm above the ground. If the ground surface is covered with snow, these thermometers are used to measure the lowest air temperature on 5 cm above the snow-covered surface. Also, knowing these temperatures is very important for the life of plants because temperatures lower than 0° C damage them.

UTC   world time, Universal Time Coordinated or Coordinated Universal Time. It is defined by mean solar time of 0° (Prime) Meridian at 12 PM on 1st January 1900.
SEV Mean European Time, UTC +1
LV local time. Climatological monitoring is not done at the same time in all the stations. Each station has its own local time which corresponds with passing of the Sun through its Meridian.
