Title Adaptation capacity of the Mediterranean forests to environmental stress
Abstract Among all Croatia forests, the 24% of the area are Mediterranean forests. Even though their economic value is minor, their overall value is very heigh (preservation of soil and biodiversity, forests carbon storage, micro-climate conditions influence, aesthetic and recreational role). Beside the climate change, there are many other factors threatening the vitality and sustainability of Mediterranean forests. Research of this factors and their influence on forests will be conducted based on ground observations and remote sensed data using advanced analytical methods.
Key words Mediterranean forests, climate change, mitigation of climate change consequences, spatio-temporal analysis
