ZAGREB, CROATIA
18 - 20 October 2017
Location
ZAGREB is the cultural, scientific, economic, political and administrative centre of the Republic of Croatia, and is home to the Croatian Parliament, Government and President. With a population of nearly one million, it contains almost a quarter of the entire population of Croatia. It is located in the northwest of the country, along the Sava river, at the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountain. Zagreb is a city with a rich history dating from the Roman times to the present day.
Zagreb has a special status in the Croatia's administrative division and is a consolidated city-county. It is administratively subdivided into 17 city districts, most of them being at low elevation along the river Sava valley, whereas northern and northeastern city districts are situated at the foothills of the Medvednica mountain, making the city's geographical image rather diverse. The transport connections, concentration of industry, scientific and research institutions, as well as industrial tradition underlie its leading economic position in Croatia. With its unique atmosphere, old-fashioned charm and the beauty of its many parks and gardens, Zagreb is a city that always holds a special place in the hearts of those who visit it.
