Location

Osijek is situated in the fertile plain of Slavonia, on the right bank of the river Drava, 25 kilometres upstream of its confluence with the Danube. Osijek is about 280 km east from Zagreb (Croatia), 260 km south from Budapest (Hungary) and 200 km northwest from Belgrade (Serbia).

Osijek climate

According to the Köppen climate classification Osijek has a moderately warm rainy climate, with the warmest month July which has the mean temperature of 21.0°C and the coldest month January with -1.3°C. The average annual precipitation in Osijek is around 650 mm in 95 rainy days and precipitation regime has characteristics of a continental climate with more precipitation in a warmer (57%) than in the colder part of the year (43%). On average, Osijek hasan equal number, around 90, of cold (tmin < 0°C) and warm days (tmax ≥ 25°C). From November to February about 70% of the sky is overcast, while from July to September clouds cover about 40% of the sky. Annually there is on average of 79 clear and 120 cloudy days.

In the first week of November, the average air temperature is 7.4°C and typically in the range of 3.4°C to 12.5°C. It may happen that the daily minimum air temperature drops below 0°C. According to the biometeorological index, the mornings are usually very cold, days are fresh or pleasantly cool, and evenings are cold. In November 70% of the sky is overcast and the sun shines about 3 hours a day on average.
