Air temperature anomalies for Croatia in February 2019
This climate assessment is based on new reference period (1981 - 2010). The average monthly air temperature for February 2019 at all analyzed stations was above the multi-annual average (1981 - 2010). Corresponding air temperature anomalies were within the range from 1.2 °C to 3.6 °C.
A comparison with the available data series of analyzed stations reveals that in February 2019 there were no minimum air temperature that are below the absolute minimum on record (Table 1)
A comparison with the avaiable data series of analyzed stations reveals that in February 2019 there were several stations where maximum air temperature exceeded or was on par with the absolute maximum on record (Table 2).
According to percentile ranks and classification ratings, thermal conditions in Croatia for February 2019 dominantly fall into the warm category, while wider areas of the towns of Rijeka and Zadar fall into the very warm category.
Precipitation amounts for Croatia in February 2019
An analysis of the precipitation amounts in February 2019 expressed as percentages (%) of the (1981 - 2010) average shows that these precipitation amounts were mainly below the average with the exception of several stations (Pazin, Parg, PoreÄŤ i Rijeka). A comparison with the multi-annual average reveals that corresponding precipitation amounts for February 2019 were within the range of 14 % - 249 % of the above mentioned average for this month. Maximum daily precipitation amount on record was observed at station Pazin on 3 February 2019 (97.2 mm) because this daily precipitation amount exceeded the maximum value according to available data series (1961 - 2018) of station Pazin (82.4 mm, 13 February 1972).
According to percentile ranks and classification ratings, the precipitation amounts in February 2019 have been described by the following categories: normal (the wider areas of the towns of VaraĹľdin and Dubrovnik, Eastern Croatia, part of Central Croatia as well as part of the Northern Adriatic and its hinterland), very wet (the wider area of the town of Pazin), very dry (the wider areas of the towns of Ogulin and Split) and dry (the rest of Croatia).
