This page links to information
on the
Model Validation Kit and the
ASTM model evaluation methodology, which has been used at previous
conferences and which is still a matter of interest for the conference.
This Model Validation kit is a collection
of three experimental data sets accompanied by software for model
evaluation. It is a practical tool, meant to serve as a common frame
of reference for modellers, but it does have well recognized limitations
(see
the web site here).
Some additions to the original toolkit
were made in January 1995. These additions include model results
from a number of models, as well as some utilities. In spring 1997,
some further supplementing items to the original kit were released:
a data set from an urban experiment in Indianapolis, USA and an
enhanced version of the Sigplot software used for 2D plots in conjunction
with the kit.
A package with materials concerning
the
ASTM package on statistical evaluation of dispersion models
is available through the anonymous FTP server of the Atmospheric
Modeling Division, US EPA (download area of John Irwin). The package
includes datasets, software etc. and was updated in August 2003.
